Martika is an international variety entertainer based in Kansas City, MO.
Buskerfest is thrilled to be hosting her for performances live on the streets of downtown SLC Friday May 28 and Sat May 29th.
She travels solo around the world performing one woman shows. She also teaches a variety of workshops, including at the top international yoga festivals. Martika graces the audience with her playful charm. Stunning and skillfull, her hula hooping with barbed wire, sword swallowing, to eating fire, her spectacular show will make the audience laugh and leave them asking... "HOW DID SHE DO THAT!? I want to see more!"

Fan dance comes in many forms. LED fans, fire fans, feather fans, and silk fans. They all share similar fan techniques. The use of fans spans across many cultures for thousands of years. Fans have been used for signaling across long distances in battle, staying cool to graceful storytelling with dance. In this class we will focus on using silk fans.The techniques you will learn can be used as cross training for other types of fans like feather fans. We start with a short warm up and stretch. We cover different styles of using the fans for fast and chaotic to slow and graceful movements. How to use a single fan or both at the same time. How to use silk fans outside when the elements are against you and much more.
*Nine pairs of silk fans will be available during class. I will have hand sanitizer to be used before picking up your fans and after the class.
